RESOLUTION HONORING ALFREDA SCHMIDT

RESOLUTION #03-285

WHEREAS, Alfreda Schmidt works tirelessly serving the children of Lansing, as well as the children of the world; and

WHEREAS, Alfreda served as Chairperson of the Spiritual Aims Committee for the South Lansing Kiwanis, representing the club with the spiritual leaders of the community and was always ready with a timely invocation to start the weekly meetings; and

WHEREAS, she co-chaired the original committee formed to study the "Hawk Island Playground Project" and worked diligently with the Ingham County Parks Department and Kiwanis leaders to initiate the current fund raising effort; and

WHEREAS, Alfreda exemplifies the six objects of Kiwanis International which are: to give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life; to encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships; to promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards; to develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship; to provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities; and to cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill; and

WHEREAS, Alfreda Schmidt has been selected as Kiwanian of the Year.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby congratulates Alfreda Schmidt on being selected as Kiwanian of the Year and extends it sincere appreciation to Alfreda for her dedication, commitment and the countless contributions she has made to the community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes her continued success in all of her future endeavors.
